Entry of the Agreement with Turkey into force
21.05.2021
The Agreement between the Republic of Poland and the Republic of Turkey on social security, signed in Warsaw on 17 October 2017, and the Administrative Arrangement on the application of this Agreement, will enter into force on 1 June.
The Agreement provides the basis for the coordination of social security systems applicable in Poland and Turkey, thus facilitating the acquisition of rights to benefits such as sickness and maternity allowances, unemployment benefits, family benefits, incapacity benefits, survivor’s pensions, accident and occupational disease benefits, pensions, funeral allowances.
The provisions of the Agreement allow to, inter alia:
- sum up insurance periods spent in Turkey to determine the right to Polish benefits (and vice versa) and
- transfer the benefits to persons residing in the territory of the other Party to the Agreement.
The Agreement is also important for Polish and Turkish entrepreneurs. Particularly important is the possibility of posting employees, as it allows to send them from one country to work in the territory of another country while leaving employees in the social security system of the posting country.
