Eurostat: Unemployment in Poland in August remains unchanged

According to the Eurostat’s methodology, the labour market situation in Poland in August was good and the unemployment rate – just like in the previous month - was 2.6%.

This result is better than the year ago – in August 2021, the unemployment rate in Poland stood at 3.2%.

- This is good news, but we have to bear in mind that every year in the summer months we can observe a decrease in unemployment due to seasonal work. Thus, we can expect small increases in the coming months – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.

The average of the European Union countries in August was 6%. (no change when compared to July.) Unemployment in the eurozone countries was also at the same level as the month ago - 6.6%.

Change in the EU podium

Just like in previous months, the Czech Republic enjoys the lowest unemployment rate in the EU with the result of 2.4%. The second place is taken by Poland. However, this August, there was a change in the third position – Malta was before Germany with unemployment at the level of 2.9%. In Germany, it is 3%.

Unemployment in Poland is lower than expected
