Under the 'Family 800 plus' programme, families with dependent children are entitled to an upbringing benefit for a child up to the age of 18, regardless of the income earned by the family. 

From January 1, 2024, the amount of the upbringing benefit has been increased to PLN 800 per month per child.

The change of the amount of the upbringing benefit from PLN 500 to PLN 800 is made ex officio, without the parents/guardians having to submit an additional application. 

Those entitled to child benefit will receive it at the new rate from January 1, 2024. 

The other rules for granting the child benefit remain unchanged.

The right to child benefit is determined for an annual benefit period lasting from June 1 to May 31 of the following calendar year.

The Social Insurance Institution (Zakład Ubezpieczeń Społecznych) is responsible for accepting applications for the child benefit, processing them and granting and paying this benefit.

Applications to ZUS can only be submitted electronically via the Internet, and the payment of the awarded benefit is only made in non-cash form, to the bank account indicated in the application.

In order to be entitled to child benefit for the next benefit period - the application must be submitted to the Social Insurance Institution exclusively on-line via one of the three application channels:

• PUE ZUS platform
• emp@tia information and service portal at empatia.mpips.gov.pl 
• electronic banking.
   

Important:

If an application for a new benefit period is submitted between February 1 and June 30, ZUS will grant entitlement to the benefit from the beginning of the benefit period, i.e. from June 1 to May 31 of the following calendar year.
