Family Care Capital – important support for families with young children

25.09.2021

For many parents, combining professional work with raising young children is a great challenge. They lack not only time, but sometimes also funds to pay for a nanny or nursery. That is why Family Care Capital has been created – a new financial solution, which will cover about 615 thousand children next year.

Family Care Capital

The social policy of the United Right government is focused around activities supporting Polish families. Family Care Capital, one of the pillars of the Polish Order, is another element of support allowing parents to combine professional work with raising young children.

- We are facing challenges related to demographic change and the ageing of society. It is our duty to offer parents such financial solutions that will make it easier for them to decide on enlarging their family. Hence the „Family 500+”, „Good Start” and „Toddler+” programmes and the most recent solution, i.e. Family Care Capital – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.

Family Care Capital

A benefit of up to PLN 12 thousand will be granted for each second and subsequent child in the family, between 12 and 36 months of age. The basic objective of the programme is to partially cover the expenses related to childcare, but it is the parents who will decide what to spend the funds on. They will also choose how to receive the benefit – PLN 500 per month for two years or PLN 1,000 per month for a year.

The benefit under Family Care Capital will be granted regardless of the amount of income, and no tax needs to be paid on the funds received. What is important, Family Care Capital will also cover adoptive parents.

In 2022, the benefit under Family Care Capital is to cover about 615 thousand children.

How and where to apply?

The benefit, which will be handled by the Social Insurance Institution, will be granted upon request of parents. The application system remains the same as for applications implemented under the „Good Start” or „Family 500+” programme. They can be submitted electronically via the following ICT systems:

  • Emp@tia Portal
  • PUE ZUS
  • Electronic banking

Co-financing of fees for a nursery, children’s club or day-care provider

Parents of children who will not be covered by support under Family Care Capital will be able to use another form of co-financing under the extended „Toddler+” programme. It assumes support in the amount of PLN 400, which will be provided directly to nurseries, children’s clubs or day-care providers.

Next year, this solution is to be used by 110 thousand children.

Family Care Capital will be introduced on 1 January 2022.
