One of the important needs of the family is the place where the spouses can settle in and where their children will be growing up – a new generation of the Poles. Many young people want this, but for many this is still only a dream, therefore, the government meets their expectations and offers housing programmes included in the Polish Order.

The Flat without own contribution programme is addressed to people aged 24-40 and is intended to help the young Poles meet their housing needs. As Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said.

- The State Treasury can afford to guarantee its own contribution for young Polish families. This is a programme which is to compensate for the eternal deficit in Poland – the lack of flats. This was and is the dream of many Polish families.

Flats as a priority for young people

The Polish government wants to take care of families, give them a sense of security thanks to the stable housing situation. Minister Marlena Maląg pointed out that – In the pyramid of needs of young people, flats are the most important. 43% of young Poles say that flats are the most important, if they are to decide to start a family or get married or plan to have children. Therefore, housing programmes included in the Polish Order will allow to give young people a sense of security, stability, because this home is very important.

She stressed that it is essential to support families both in the personal and social aspect. She also referred to the programmes implemented so far, thanks to which the life of Polish families and their financial situation had improved.

Flat versus the decision to have children

Without regulating housing matters, it is very difficult for families to make procreation decisions. So, there is no doubt that housing problems have an impact on fertility. Meanwhile, due to the difficult demographic situation of Poland, the low fertility rate and the related progressive ageing of the society, it is necessary for more children to be born.

- If young people are to decide to have children, in addition to stable and flexible work they need, inter alia, flats. The response to these needs are the programmes developed as part of the Polish Order and Demographic Strategy 2040 – summed up Deputy Minister Barbara Socha, Government Plenipotentiary for Demographic Policy.
