Improved accessibility and effectiveness of protection for people experiencing domestic violence
30.10.2023
The government wants to increase the effectiveness of assistance and support for people at risk of and experiencing domestic violence. This includes increasing preventive measures and better availability and effectiveness of protection for people who experience such violence. The programme also includes increasing the level of competence of representatives of institutions and entities that carry out tasks related to counteracting domestic violence in order to increase the quality and accessibility of the services provided.
The provisions of the programme envisage a continuation of the activities that have been implemented so far under the National Programme for the Prevention of Family Violence 2014-2020 and the subsequent ones enacted in annual perspectives for the years: 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Key solutions
The National Programme for the Prevention of Family Violence 2024-2030 will provide for:
- raising public awareness related to the prevention of domestic violence and increasing knowledge of the mechanisms and consequences of such violence;
- development, strengthening and dissemination of preventive activities related to countering domestic violence;
- improving the quality of services provided to people at risk of or experiencing domestic violence;
- increasing the availability of specialist support for people who experience domestic violence, including the provision of places in 24-hour support facilities;
- intensifying and improving the quality of interventions in relation to domestic violence perpetrators;
- improving the skills and competencies of those who provide services to people at risk of and experiencing domestic violence and perpetrators of such violence.
The programme will be implemented in a 7-year perspective, i.e., between 2024 and 2030. This solution will allow for effective planning of expenditures on tasks related to counteracting domestic violence. This includes, for example, the operation of specialised support centres for people who experience domestic violence, as well as the continuation of existing activities assessed in the evaluation study as effective.
