Last meeting of the Social Dialogue Council chaired by the Minister Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk

Monday's meeting of the Social Dialogue Council was the last chaired by the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk. At the end of the government side's term, a representative of the employees' side - the President of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union 'Solidarność' Piotr Duda - will take over the presidency.

The Social Dialogue Council is the most important institution of national social dialogue in Poland. It provides a forum for tripartite dialogue and cooperation between employees, employers and the government side, operating at central level. The Council is alternately chaired by a representative of the employees' side, the employers' side or the government side. Its term is one year.

The Social Dialogue Council held its last meeting on Monday 22 October, chaired by the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy, Agnieszka-Dziemianowicz-Bąk. She was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Labour, Sebastian Gajewski, and the Director General of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, Liwiusz Laska.

Minister Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk thanked the social side for the cooperation so far and expressed her hope for the possibility of a quality dialogue in the future.

For the 2024-2025 term, the Council will be chaired by the employees' side and Piotr Duda - President of the Solidarity Trade Union.

Social Dialogue Council chaired by the government side

To start with some numbers. In the period from 15 October 2023 (when the presidency was taken over by the government side) to 30 September 2024, 73 meetings of the Social Dialogue Council were held, including six plenary meetings of the Council - the next and last one was held on 21 October 2024.

During the Bureau meetings and plenary sessions, not only economically relevant issues were discussed, but also those concerning workers' rights. At the Council, discussions were held on the labour market, solutions to support the market for assistance measures offered to the elderly, issues relating to Poland's energy security, as well as the system for shaping salaries and conditions of employment for professional groups representing the public finance sphere. The draft state budget for 2025 and the draft Multiannual State Financial Plan for 2024-2027 were also discussed. The Social Dialogue Council was also a forum for dialogue on current and socially important issues, i.e. the situation in the Polish Post Office or PKP CARGO.

During the meetings of the Council's Problem Teams, draft legislation and solutions to contribute to better application of the law in the areas of the labour market, labour law, social security and social policy were discussed. The alignment of national legislation with European Union requirements was also discussed.
