MEPs visiting the Ministry of Family

Minister Marlena Maląg along with the Management of the Ministry held a meeting with a delegation from the European Parliament. The discussion covered the war in Ukraine, including the access of those arriving in Poland to the social benefits system and the labour market.
The Ministry of Family hosted a delegation of the European Parliament's Committee on Employment and Social Affairs, led by Dragos Pîslaru. It was composed, among others, of the current MEPs - Elżbieta Rafalska, the former Minister of Labour, and Jarosław Duda, the former Government Plenipotentiary for Disabled People.
Jobs also in smaller towns
Minister Marlena Maląg presented the situation in Poland after 24 February - from opening up the state borders for the Ukrainians fleeing war to the latest solutions to help them find a job.
- As many as 130 thousand of them have already found a job - said the Minister. - We are now attempting to encourage those arriving and looking for a job in Poland to settle down in smaller towns where they can also find a job - outside of the large cities.
Deputy Minister Barbara Socha held a brief presentation of the aid system for Ukrainian children. She emphasized the special legislative solutions that allow their travelling companions, e.g. teachers from children’s homes, to care for them in Poland lawfully.
So the employers and the trade unions
Deputy Minister Anna Schmidt, the Government Plenipotentiary for Equal Treatment, referred to the National Programme for Equal Treatment that is now being developed with an aim to face the challenges that may accompany the inflow of refugees.
Deputy Minister Stanislaw Szwed highlighted the role of the recently established government and self-government team for helping the Ukrainians. He also spoke about the regular meetings and talks that are organized with employers, representatives of the trade unions and the NGOs involved in these activities.
EU support is urgently needed
Deputy Minister Paweł Wdówik, the Government Plenipotentiary for Disabled People, discussed the system of caring for the persons with disabilities who cross the state border. He mentioned, among other things, the government program for financing the necessary rehabilitation and the purchase of the necessary equipment. He also called for an adequate financial support to be provided by the European Union.
Dragos Pîslaru, the head of the delegation, expressed his appreciation and admiration for the Polish current actions. He stated that the purpose of the delegation's visit was to gather information about the challenges, needs and activities carried out in Poland, including in the context of Poland’s call for support by the European Union.
