Minister Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk and Deputy Minister Sebastian Gajewski appointed to the Social Dialogue Council

On Tuesday, a ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace to appoint government representatives to the Social Dialogue Council. Among others, the Minister for Family, Labour and Social Policy Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk, who was appointed as Chair, and Deputy Minister Sebastian Gajewski received the appointment.

30.01.2024 President Andrzej Duda appointed government representatives to the Social Dialogue Council. The Council is the most important forum for dialogue and cooperation between employees, employers and the government. The statutory members of the Council are representatives of the government, representative trade union organisations and representative employer organisations.

At the request of the Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the following persons were appointed to the Social Dialogue Council: Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk , Minister for Family, Labour and Social Policy, appointed as the chairperson in the new term of office of the government side in RDS, Andrzej Domański, Minister for Finance, Barbara Nowacka, Minister for Education, Dariusz Wieczorek, Minister for Science, Krzysztof Hetman, Minister for Development and Technology, Dariusz Klimczak, Minister for Infrastructure, Izabela Leszczyna, Minister for Senior Citizenship Policy, Marzena Okła-Drewnowicz, Minister for Equality, Katarzyna Kotula, Minister for Funds and Regional Policy, Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, Minister for State Assets, Borys Budka,  Minister for Climate and Environment, Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Minister for Internal Affairs and Administration, Mariusz Kierwiński,  Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Finance, Hanna Majszczyk, and the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, Sebastian Gajewski.

Objectives of the Social Dialogue Council

The objectives of the Social Dialogue Council include ensuring the conditions for social and economic development and increasing the competitiveness of the Polish economy and social cohesion. The Council is supposed to promote social dialogue at all levels of local government, and is also supposed to put into practice the principle of participation and social solidarity in employment relations.

Established by law in mid-2015. The Social Dialogue Council as a forum for tripartite cooperation replaced the Tripartite Commission for Social and Economic Affairs.

Social dialogue in regional institutions

The regional institutions of social dialogue are the Vovidoship Social Dialogue Councils. The task of the Marshal of voivodship is to create and ensure the functioning of the WRDS in the region. The importance of social dialogue is underlined by the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. In its Preamble, there is a reference to social dialogue as a fundamental principle governed by the state.
