Minister Maląg: the fourteenth pension will remain for good
24.05.2023
The Sejm held the first reading of the government draft act on the additional annual cash benefit for old age and disability pensioners, introducing the fourteenth pension for good. The benefit will be received by about 8.3 million old age and disability pensioners, and in total they receive nearly PLN 12 billion.
The fourteenth pension in its full amount will be paid to those receiving the benefit not exceeding PLN 2,900 gross. 6.8 million pensioners will receive it in a full amount and 1.5 million people – reduced on the “PLN for PLN” basis.
The fourteenth pension will remain with our seniors for good – said Minister Marlena Maląg, who presented the draft act in the Sejm.
No application
In order to receive the fourteenth pension, it will not be required to submit any application. Minister Maląg informed that it would be at least at the level of the minimum old age pension, but if it was necessary to support seniors, the Council of Ministers would be able to increase its amount.
This benefit is to improve the situation of this group of people who have the lowest benefits, the lowest old age and disability pensions – explained the Minister.
The solution is intended for old age and disability pensioners in the general insurance system, farmers, uniformed services, persons receiving old age bridging pensions, pre-retirement benefits and allowances, social pensions, teachers’ compensation benefits, parental supplementary benefits, cash benefits due to the blind civils, victims of war and disability pensioners being war and military invalids.
13th pension was in April
This is another additional benefit for pensioners. The thirteenth pension was paid for the first time in 2019, and since 2020 it has been guaranteed by the Act and is implemented every year. This year, the 13th pension was paid in April for a total amount of PLN 8.1 billion.
