A pro-family policy must be consistent and long-term. It is the state’s duty to support the family. We are creating a modern Poland, and it is the stable family foundation on which it must be based – said Minister Marlena Maląg. - An investment in the family is an investment in human capital, these are specific programmes, hundreds of billions of zlotys transferred to Polish families – added the minister.

Since 2016, the United Right government has launched a number of programmes addressed to families, with the Family 500+ programme at the forefront. Since 2018, the Good Start programme has been implemented, and since 2022, parents of the youngest children have been able to take advantage of Family Care Capital. The government is also developing pre-existing programmes, whose implementation has gained momentum after 2015, including the Toddler+ programme, under which nurseries and children’s clubs are established. In 2015, there were fewer than 3,000 such facilities for nearly 84,000 children. Today, we already have over 8,000 nurseries that offer care for over 228,000 children.

The pro-family policy also means support for seniors, such as the 13th and 14th pensions and a decent indexation. During the fight against inflation, we do not leave Poles alone, hence the Anti-Inflation Shield, a reduction in VAT rates or subsidies for the purchase of coal – said Minister Marlena Maląg.

Besides Minister Marlena Maląg, the panel discussion was also attended by Dr. Ewa Leniart, Governor of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, Dr. Katarzyna Obłąkowska, Head of the Behavioural Analysis and Social Research Team at the Institute of Finance, Professor Jan Paradysz, demographer associated with the Poznań University of Economics and Business, and Dr. Bartosz Marczuk, Deputy President of the Polish Development Fund and the Chairperson of the Council of the Generation Institute. The debate was moderated by Maciej Wośko, editor-in-chief of Gazeta Bankowa.
