Minister Marlena Maląg: The unemployment rate in Poland amounted to 5% in August of this year

According to estimates of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, the unemployment rate in Poland amounted to 5% in August this year – the same as in the previous month," announced Marlena Maląg, the Minister of Family and Social Policy, at the Economic Forum in Karpacz.
In August this year, the registered unemployment rate was 5%, with 783,700 unemployed people registered in employment offices.
"The number of the unemployed in the registers has decreased by 1,3 million, or more than 62%, compared with the end of August 2013, said Minister of Family Marlena Maląg.
The Minister added that a slight rise in the unemployment rate in the autumn-winter season could be a natural trend.
The best result, as on previous occasions, was reported in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship (2.9%).
Job offers are growing in number
Employer advertised 92,800 vacancies and professional activation positions through employment offices, i.e. 1,800 (1.9%) more than a month before.
Eurostat: Poland on the 3rd position in the EU
Eurostat's estimates are even better, showing that the unemployment rate in Poland is only 2,8%. This puts us among leading EU Member States in terms of unemployment (according to Eurostat, the EU average is 5.9%).
