“Mother 4+” is an expression of social solidarity. Benefit for 57.5 thousand people
14.07.2020
By the end of June this year, the supplementary parental benefit granted under the “Mother 4+” programme was granted to a total of 57.5 thousand people - mainly women - who devoted themselves to bringing up at least four children and, as a result, did not manage to earn even a minimum pension.
“Mother 4+” is a supplementary parental benefit applicable since March 1st of 2019, for those who have devoted themselves (mainly women) to bringing up four, five or more children and thus had to resign from professional career or had to limit their working hours below the threshold required to receive even the minimum pension. The benefit is granted in the amount of the minimal retirement pension.
- This programme is an example of social solidarity and a form of appreciation of these women. Above all, in addition to the dedicating themselves to raising many children, these women have also lived on the verge of extreme poverty - says Marlena Maląg, Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy.
She also informs that a total of over 57.5 thousand benefits were granted until the end of June this year. The Social Insurance Institution itself granted 56.4 thousand of them. It is worth noting that the vast majority of the pool allocated by ZUS - i.e. 36.3 thousand - are complementary benefits.
- This means that over 36 thousand people who had the right to obtain the benefit often reconciled their professional duties with raising children for a certain period of time or took up employment when their children grew older - adds Minister Maląg.
