National Senioralia 2021 with the participation of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Minister Marlena Maląg

The National Senioralia 2021, held on Wednesday in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, was a real festival of elderly people, as well as an opportunity to meet and present the talents of the gifted seniors. The event was attended by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.

National Senioralia 2021

The National Senioralia 2021 was covered by the honorary patronage of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. The event organised on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons falling on 1 October was a real festival of seniors. The participants in the activities in “Senior+” homes and clubs from various regions of Poland could meet, talk, as well as present their artistic talents both on stage and in a specially prepared exhibition area.

There were also the points for the participants, prepared, inter alia, by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the National Support Centre for Agriculture, the National Health Fund, the Central House of Technology and the City of Tomaszów Mazowiecki. A Mobile Vaccination Point has also been launched.

During the event, there was also a premiere of a spot on solutions for seniors.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki: We want to talk to seniors about their needs

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who was present at the event, stressed: “We want to constantly talk to you – our beloved mothers, fathers, grandfathers, grandmothers – about your concerns and needs. We want your life to become better and better.”

The Prime Minister reiterated the activities implemented for seniors, inter alia, the beneficial indexation of benefits and a departure from very low rises, lowering of the retirement age, thirteenth and fourteenth pensions, as well as the Medicines 75+ programme. He also announced the expansion of the “Senior+” programme.

I would like to thank all those who are involved and create this programme. (...) We want to create the best possible space for you, for our beloved grandmothers, grandfathers, so that you can feel as good as possible there – stressed Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Minister Marlena Maląg: senior policy means the creation of a good time for seniors

As the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg, pointed out, elderly people teach young people respect for history, tradition and Polishness.

Thank you for raising the young generation – said the Head of the Ministry of Family during the National Senioralia 2021.

The Minister added that the senior policy pursued by the government means the creation of a good time for seniors. She also reiterated the solutions included in the Polish Order which are addressed to elderly people – including, inter alia, tax-free pension and support for “Senior+” homes and clubs. She reminded that today there are about 1,000 of them in Poland.

As part of intergenerational solidarity, we are obliged to take care of you – highlighted Minister Marlena Maląg, referring to the activities which are already being implemented.

Talks about the situation of seniors

One of the points of the Senioralia was also a debate under the slogan “Active long-lived people – how to guarantee cheerful autumn years for seniors”. It was attended by the Director of the Senior Policy Department at the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, Lidia Ułanowska, Secretary of the Prime Minister at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Małgorzata Zwiercan, President of the Adaptacja Foundation from Gdynia, Kordian Kulaszewicz and Plenipotentiary of the Małopolska Voivode for Elderly People, Jacek Kowalczyk. The meeting was devoted to the most important issues related to the situation of elderly people in Poland.

There was also a small surprise for the seniors – a performance by the participants in the “The Voice Senior” programme, and at the end Grzegorz Wilk with the Tomaszów Mazowiecki Youth Symphony Orchestra appeared on stage.
