Nearly 380 thousand of Ukrainian citizens with new jobs

Owing to the streamlined employment procedure, nearly 380 thousand of Ukrainian citizens who left their country fleeing from war found a job in Poland – The Ukrainians fill the gaps in certain sectors; many of them have higher education. The labour market has strongly benefited from their capacity – says Marlena Maląg, Minister of Family and Social Policy.
The Act on support to the Ukrainian citizens adopted promptly after the outbreak of war in Ukraine opened our labour market to them. Streamlining the procedures enabled taking a job without the need to obtain any additional permits.
Under the new regulations, nearly 380 thousand of the Ukrainian citizens, who left their country due to war, found new jobs. Only less than 17 thousand of people registered themselves in the labour offices as the unemployed. This demonstrates that vast majority of the Ukrainians willing to take a job has no difficulties with doing so – emphasizes Marlena Maląg, Minister of Family and Social Policy.
Which regions employ the largest number of the Ukrainians?
The largest group of the Ukrainian citizens – almost 84 thousand – found a job in the Mazovian Voivodeship.
Lower Silesia with nearly 40 thousand of the employed Ukrainians is ranked second and followed by Lodz Voivodeship (36.8 thousand) and Greater Poland (35 thousand) – informs Minister Marlena Maląg. Despite the Mazovia’s domination, we are glad that our neighbours found jobs in various regions of the country – she adds.

The persons who need assistance in seeking a job may register themselves in the poviat labour office. Both the citizens of Poland and Ukraine may benefit from job agency, counselling and training services – also in the scope of learning Polish.

Ukrainian citizens have been working in Poland for years
According to the Head of the Ministry of Family, the Ukrainian citizens have been filling the gaps on the Polish labour market for years.
In 2012-2017, more than 5.4 million of legal working permits for the foreigners were issued. In vast majority – more than 3 million – these were issued to the Ukrainian citizens. In 2018 – 2022, more than 9.7 million of permits were issued, of which 8.2 million to the Ukrainians.
