Over PLN 84 billion granted under the support shields for companies. Discussion including the participation of Minister Maląg and Deputy Prime Minister Emilewicz

Protecting jobs and unfreezing the economy are our priorities in the fight against the effects of the epidemic - said Marlena Maląg, Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy during Tuesday's discussion on the effects of the anti-crisis shield. Over PLN 84 billion was granted under the support shields for companies. The cost of the anti-crisis shield alone amounts to over PLN 25 billion.
The Tuesday’s discussion summarising the support for companies during the coronavirus epidemic was attended by Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Marlena Maląg, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development Marlena Maląg, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development Jadwiga Emilewicz and the President of the Polish Economic Institute Piotr Arak.
Until now, PLN 84.28 billion in support funds was provided to business owners. These funds include various instruments of the anti-crisis shield (PLN 25,31 billion), financial (PLN 49.6 billion) and aid (PLN 9.35 billion).
– Protecting jobs and unfreezing the economy are our priorities in the fight against the effects of the epidemic. We have created tools which are easy and transparent. The support mechanisms which help entrepreneurs, employees and entire families - said Minister Marlena Maląg on Tuesday. She added that each day brings evidence that quick introduction of the individual instruments was crucial.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development Jadwiga Emilewicz pointed out that with respect to the scale of the protective measures, the anti-crisis shield is at the top of the European Union. – Because of it, our economy is quickly returning to development - she said.
Over 5 million protected workplaces
The Head of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy stressed that approximately 5 million workplaces today are covered by various support instruments.
Until today, the following was granted under the anti-crisis shield:
- Co-financing for salaries in the amount over PLN 7.7 billion.
- Loans granted to 1.4 million micro-entrepreneurs - PLN 7 billion.
- Idle time benefit for approximately 1.57 million people - over PLN 3 billion.
- Exemption from social security contributions of over PLN 7.5 billion.
– Now is the time to see how these instruments work, it is the time for us to engage in a conversation with the entrepreneurs - said Minister Maląg. She stressed that she holds meetings with company representatives and hears that the support was effective and helped to protect jobs.
She also added that the Social Insurance Institution as well as the majority of the labour offices are handling their duties in an efficient manner.
An increasing number of offers on the labour market.
In reference to the job market situation, Minister Marlena Maląg admitted that the support instruments are effective. Moreover, more people have recently de-registered from labour offices than registered as unemployed or seeking employment. What is also important, the number of job offers is also increasing.
