Parent, don't delay! Apply for the Active Parent benefit today

The receipt of applications for a new benefit to support parents of young children in balancing professional and family life started on 1 October. Under the Active Parent scheme, the parents will receive up to PLN 1,500 monthly per child. The parents will receive the funds no later than two months after filing the application and, importantly, with adjustment.

Active Parent is a new scheme of the Ministry of Family Affairs, Labour and Social Policy addressed to the parents of the youngest children – aged 1 to 3 years. It gives parents the freedom to choose how to care for their toddlers by introducing three new benefits of up to PLN 1,500 per month.

The receipt of applications under the Active Parent scheme started on 1 October. As with the existing schemes, applications can be submitted to the Social Insurance Agency through channels familiar to parents:

  • Electronic Services Platform (PUE)/eZUS,
  • mZUS mobile application,
  • the Ministry of the Family, Labour and Social Policy's Emp@tia website at empatia.mpips.gov.pl,
  • online banking, if the bank has launched such a service – the list of banks is available at the ZUS website

The parents will receive the funds no later than two months after filing the application and, importantly, the amount will be adjusted from the month the application has been filed. There’s no point in delaying.

Which benefit am I entitled to?

Parents can choose one of the three benefits available: active parents at work, actively in the nursery or actively at home. You can receive up to PLN 1,500 childcare allowance for a young child, and up to PLN 1,900 for a child with disabilities.

No means test has to be satisfied to receive this benefit, nor does the scheme affect other benefits. An application can be made at any time. The benefit will be paid no later than two months of the date of application, with adjustment.

Active Parent is a flexible programme. It also offers a great flexibility, since it is possible to change the decision on the form of benefit multiple times during the effective term of the programme – i.e. to drop one form of support and switch to another. However, it is important to note that only one benefit can be paid for the same child for a given month.

The benefit will be granted for each child in the family. What does this mean? Parents will be able to obtain various benefits for each of their children.
