Record low unemployment in May

5.1 per cent was the registered unemployment rate in May this year, according to estimates by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy. - This is an excellent result; after 1990, only in October 2019 was the registered unemployment rate lower and amounted to 5 per cent - indicates Minister Marlena Maląg.
The situation on the labour market in Poland is not only stable - it is very good. In May this year the registered unemployment rate was 5.1% - according to estimates by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy. In comparison to the previous month, a drop of 0.1 percentage points was noted.
May's result one of the best after 1990
– This is an absolutely fantastic result, after 1990, only in October 2019 the registered unemployment rate was lower and amounted to 5%. We have reasons to be happy, says Minister of Family Marlena Maląg.
The lowest level of unemployment in May this year was - as in previous months - recorded in the region of Wielkopolska (2.8%).
According to preliminary data, there were 852,000 unemployed people registered in labour offices at the end of May this year - 26,000 fewer than at the end of April.
Eurostat: Poland with one of the lowest unemployment figures in the EU
The harmonised unemployment rate in April this year, calculated according to the definition adopted by Eurostat, amounted in Poland to 3%. Poland took the second place among the European Union countries (after the Czech Republic and ex aequo with Germany). The EU average was 6.2%.
