Senior citizen, please take care of your safety. What should you avoid in public?
15.10.2020
The past few weeks have been a time when the coronavirus pandemic has continued to grow. That is why it is so important to remember and apply the basic safety principles that significantly reduce the risk of infection. - This is especially true for the elderly. I strongly advise you to remain careful and stay at home if possible – stresses the Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.
The seniors, often struggling with various illnesses, are a particularly vulnerable group during a coronavirus pandemic.
- The situation is certainly difficult, which is why it is so important to apply these basic but very important safety principles. Some people may feel a little bit tired of the pandemic and started to ignore it, and this is the easiest way to increase the number of infections - says Marlena Maląg, Minister of Family and Social Policy.
Distance, disinfection, mask
Maintaining a distance of at least 1.5 m from other people in a public space, frequent hand washing, disinfecting surfaces and objects, as well as properly worn face mask or a visor - these are the basic safety principles during a pandemic.
- Today it is particularly important to remain fully mobilised and to comply with the sanitary recommendations. Dear seniors, please refrain from leaving your homes and avoid crowded areas. If you have to do the shopping yourself - remember about the hours for seniors. Avoid public transport if possible. We are aware that this is often a big sacrifice, but this is about your own health and life – says Minister Marlena Maląg.
The head of the family department also reminds us that reusable masks should be washed regularly. It is also worth remembering to disinfect the phone frequently and not to use it while eating.
– Please avoid contact with objects and surfaces that are touched by others – e.g. elevator buttons, handles, handrails. If we are already have contact with such items, we should not touch our faces or masks and wash or disinfect our hands as soon as possible - says the Minister.
Solidarity and sensitivity
- We are responsible for each other during this sensitive time. The safety not only of ourselves, but also of the people around us, depends on whether we follow the sanitary recommendations. Therefore, please avoid meeting in groups and instead of personal visits, especially in the case of older people - please use the phone or meet online. We should remain sensitive to others and remain solidary during this uncommon time – appeals Minister Marlena Maląg.
