Senioralia 2022 – a big feast of elderly people

The Senioralia 2022 were held at the PGE National Stadium. This is a meeting of people who use government support programmes implemented by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, such as “Senior+” and “Active+”. About 600 people from all over Poland came to the capital city. The event has been prepared by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy. The Senioralia were visited by Minister Marlena Maląg.
On 1 October, we celebrate the International Day of Older Persons. On this occasion, we invited the Senior+ Club members and Senior+ Home residents from all over Poland to the fifth Senioralia, taking place for the fifth time – said Minister Marlena Maląg to the guests gathered.
Nearly PLN 44 billion for seniors this year
This year, the United Right government allocated nearly PLN 44 billion for additional support for seniors.
We will be taking care of you, as it is our duty and thanks for having raised the young generation, for teaching patriotism and passing down tradition – said Minister Maląg.
She reiterated that the senior policy was based on two pillars: financial security and support for activity of elderly people.
At the beginning of the term of office, we restored the retirement age, while giving an opportunity to choose and introducing favourable financial solutions to encourage to work longer. We increase benefits properly, thus eliminating the phenomenon of very low indexation. We have already guaranteed the thirteenth pension for good and this year, we also paid the fourteenth pension – specified the Minister.
She assured that also in the following year, the government would continue to fulfil its commitments.
We are focused on making Poland a strong and independent state with the family as its foundation – concluded Minister Marlena Maląg.
Winter protection
Deputy Minister Stanisław Szwed stressed the role of activity of elderly people. - It is enabled by government programmes, implemented by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, such as “Senior+” and “Active+” - said the Deputy Minister. Currently, 1,100 “Senior+” Homes and Clubs are already in operation across Poland, where many interesting activities are conducted. This year, 316 non-governmental organisations made use of a subsidy under the “Active+” programme.
Deputy Minister Stanisław Szwed also mentioned the protection programmes prepared by the government for the winter period.
Letter from the Marshal of the Sejm
Joanna Borowiak, Member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland and President of the Sejm Senior Committee, read the letter to the participants in the Senioralia event, submitted by the Marshal of the Sejm, Elżbieta Witek. In her letter, the Marshal sent her wishes on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons and mentioned that it was an excellent opportunity to point to the needs of elderly people.
Also Urszula Rusecka, Member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland and President of the Social Policy and Family Committee, who attended the Senioralia event, sent her wishes to the seniors.
