Seniors will receive their fourteenth pensions soon. The President signed the Act
28.06.2022
In just a few weeks, 9 million old age and disability pensioners will receive their fourteenth pensions. President Andrzej Duda signed the Act on another additional annual cash benefit for old age and disability pensioners in 2022.
Although it was supposed to be a one-off benefit in 2021 – the fourteenth pension will be paid this year as well. President Andrzej Duda signed the Act on another additional annual cash benefit for old age and disability pensioners in 2022.
- We want to secure the financial situation of Polish seniors as much as possible, in particular, of those with lower benefits. Hence, the decision on paying the fourteenth pension also this year. This is an important support in the age of inflation – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.
How does it work?
Persons who receive old age and disability pension benefits in the amount not exceeding PLN 2,900 – will receive the fourteen pension in full amount. This is PLN 1,338.44.
The “PLN for PLN” mechanism will be applied here – for persons receiving benefits exceeding PLN 2,900, the fourteenth pension will be reduced by the amount of this surplus.
We do not want the exceedance of the criterion to be equivalent to the lack of the right to the benefit. Simply, the benefit will be reduced accordingly – points out Minister Maląg.
The fourteenth pension will be paid ex officio, i.e. there is no need to apply for it.
Important support for 9 million persons
This year, the fourteenth pension will go to about 9 million persons – about 7.7 million old age and disability pensioners will receive their payment in full, and about 1.3 million – in the reduced amount. In 2022, it is about PLN 11.4 billion.
