- It is very important for us to provide support and security during this difficult time of war in Ukraine to those citizens who come to Poland – informed Minister Marlena Maląg at a press briefing.
We help Ukraine
For several days, Ukrainian citizens have been suffering from Russian armed aggression. More than 300 thousand refugees have already crossed our eastern border. – Poland is very active in helping them – said Minister Marlena Maląg. – We receive them, provide them with shelter and security.
These activities involve the voivodes’ services, non-governmental organisations, entrepreneurs and ordinary people. The Ministry of Family and Social Policy is preparing amendments to the legislation allowing for providing long-term support. Families will have access to family benefits.
After crossing the border and confirming the legality of the stay, Ukrainians will gain open access to our labour market. It is sufficient for an employer to inform a relevant labour office of having employed them.
Work for women
Deputy Minister Stanisław Szwed informed that employers will adapt their offers to the current needs, resulting to the fact that most of newcomers are women with children. He also announced further legislative work to simplify legal employment.
“We are after meetings with representatives of employers and public employment services” – stressed Minister Maląg.
At the same time – as she said – there are many forms of support that citizens of Ukraine can already use through communication channels. They include, inter alia, hotline 19-524, central job offer database (oferty.praca.gov.pl) in Ukrainian and ePraca mobile app.
Together we can do more
“All this information can be found in one place: on the website www.pomagamukrainie.gov.pl, so that any Ukrainian citizen can fully use the information” – noted Minister Maląg.
The competition entitled “Together we can do more – the first edition of the Activation programme for foreigners is 2022-2023” with a budget of PLN 40 million has been launched. “The programme will also support the activation of people from Ukraine” – said the Minister.
Prof. Gertruda Uścińska, President of the Social Insurance Institution, informed that the Institution provided the refugees with accommodation in its training centres. The information in Ukrainian language has been posted on the ZUS website.
7% up
On 1 march, the indexation of old age and disability pensions started. It was supposed to be 5.7%, but by decision of the Council of Ministers it was raised to 7%. The amount of PLN 18 billion has been allocated for it. The lowest old age pension will amount to PLN 1,338.44 gross. This is an increase by PLN 87.56.
The indexation will also cover the 13th pension paid from 13 April and the 14th pension paid in autumn as well as other related benefits. – This year, PLN 44 billion will be provided to old age and disability pensioners – said Deputy Minister Stanisław Szwed.
