Subjective approach and removal of barriers
08.03.2023
The Law and Justice government has changed its approach to persons with disabilities, we treat them as partners and subjects, not as objects of support – declared Paweł Wdówik, Government Plenipotentiary for Disabled Persons during a press briefing.
Deputy Minister Paweł Wdówik stressed that the way we perceived persons with disabilities was essential for the solutions we introduced so as to guarantee their full participation in social life.
Accessibility at all levels
The Deputy Minister reminded that the Strategy for Persons with Disabilities had been adopted.
When it comes to removing barriers, not only architectural, but those limiting the possibility of participation of persons with disabilities in professional and social life, we are the only country in the European Union which has adopted and is implementing such a landmark programme as Accessibility+ – reminded the Deputy Minister.
He added that thanks to the financial resources from the Solidarity Fund, we could implement programmes such as personal assistance, respite care as well as build care and residential centres.
We touch on such essential issues for persons with disabilities as the availability of housing. Soon, rentals of high-quality specialised rehabilitation equipment will be launched.
Together with the environment of persons with disabilities
Deputy Minister Paweł Wdówik pointed out that all these measures took place following extensive public consultations. Constant dialogue is held at the National Consultative Council at the Government Plenipotentiary for Disabled People. In agreement with social partners, the Act on equal opportunities is being created, together with the environment we prepared programmes helping persons with disabilities in the labour market.
