The first „thirteen pensions” are already in seniors’ accounts

On Friday, the payment of the thirteenth pension, an additional benefit addressed to 9.7 million seniors, was started. It will be received by all old age and disability pensioners, regardless of income.
- The estimated cost of this year’s thirteen pensions is PLN 13.1 billion. The first tranche of the benefit is addressed to more than 1 million seniors. Today, they will have more than PLN 1.2 billion in their pockets – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.
Thirteenth pension in 6 tranches
This year, the „thirteen pension” will be paid in 6 tranches together with the April old age and disability pensions. The additional benefit is paid in the amount of the minimum old age pension, which this year is PLN 1,338.44 gross and is higher by PLN 87.56 than in 2021. The benefit is paid to about 9.7 million seniors.
The thirteenth pension is free from deductions and enforcements, and its collection does not affect the application for other benefits, allowances or additional support. What is important, no personal income tax is deducted from the thirteenth pension.
The thirteenth pension is a benefit paid ex officio from 2019, and for two years it has been guaranteed by law for all old age and disability pensioners. This benefit is granted to persons who, on 31 March of the year in which the additional annual cash benefit is paid, have the right to receive to the benefits specified in the Act.
In total, old age and disability pensioners will receive (in the years 2019-2022) about PLN 47.8 billion due to the thirteenth pension.
