The members of the 2nd term Committee on Senior Policy were appointed

The inaugural meeting of the 2nd term Committee on Senior Policy was held on Thursday at the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy with the participation of the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Marlena Maląg, and the Secretary of State in Stanisław Szwed’s Ministry. The meeting saw the appointment of the new members of the Committee.
The Committee on Senior Policy is a consultative – advisory body on matters related to social policy regarding the elderly. The Committee has been operating under the Minister for social security, based on the Minister’s ordinance.
The main tasks of the Committee on Senior Policy include developing the direction of measures addressed to Polish seniors, initiating, supporting and promoting social policy solutions for the elderly, and presenting proposals on solutions on the support scheme for the elderly to the Minister.
We support families, we support seniors
During the meeting, the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Marlena Maląg stressed, that even during the 1st term, the Committee showed initiative which translated into specific decisions taken by the government. - Due to the experience of the previous Committee, we are able to take full responsibility in stating that we support families with small children on the one hand, while also caring for the senior policy - said the Minister. - The cross-generational bond is our gratitude towards our seniors - she added.
Minister Maląg listed the following examples of the effects of cooperation between the Committee and the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy: reinstating the previous pension age and the financial and percentage adjustment of pensions, as well as the “Senior+” and Social Activity of the Elderly programmes implemented by the Ministry. “We should not perform singular activities or measures, but rather to think them through and execute” - stressed the Minister.
The 2nd term members
The newly created Committee shall constitute an open dialogue board on the concept, shape and direction of the Polish social policy in the area of old age and ageing population. The constant duties under the Committee shall be performed by the invited representatives of local government units, as well as unions of these units; government administration, non-governmental organisations, employers' associations and trade unions; universities and research organisations, delegated to participate in the Committee.
The members of the Committee shall be appointed by the Minister, following a vacancy notice. The members of the Committee on Social Policy issues perform their duties pro publico bono. The term of the Committee shall last four years.
