The payment of “fourteenth pensions” is coming to an end
20.09.2022
We are coming to an end of payments of so-called “fourteenth pensions”. On Tuesday, we transferred more than PLN 1.5 billion to another group of seniors. This is a real financial support. It proves that we care about the oldest generation of Poles – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.
On Tuesday, nearly 1,3 million seniors received another PLN 1.5 billion. In total, 9 million old age and disability pensioners were eligible to receive their fourteenth pensions and the total amount of benefits paid was PLN 11.4 billion. The largest number of fourteenth pensions was paid by the Social Insurance Institution in the Mazowieckie, Śląskie and Wielkopolskie Voivodeships, and the smallest one in the Opolskie, Podlaskie and Lubuskie Voivodeships.
We consistently support seniors. We realise that every additional benefit is a noticeable support for them. I would like to reiterate that it is not just the fourteenth pensions that have been credited to the accounts of our seniors over the past weeks, but also the thirteenth pensions - paid in spring. All these funds provide an additional support to seniors and result in improving their living conditions. They also prove that we care about the oldest Poles. We do not leave them alone – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.
The full fourteenth pension amounts to PLN 1,338.44 gross. It is exempt from income tax. Only the health contribution is deducted from this amount.
About 7.7 million people, whose basic benefit does not exceed the amount of 2,900 PLN gross, received their fourteenth pensions in full amount. In turn, persons with the benefits ranging from PLN 2,900 and PLN 4,188.44, had their supplementary benefit reduced in accordance with the “PLN for PLN” principle.
This year, PLN 11.4 billion were allocated for paying the fourteenth pensions from the state budget.
