The Statistics Poland reported that in August the unemployment rate was 4.8%. “This is even a better result than indicated by the preliminary estimates. We have not seen such figures for more than three decades” – highlights the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.
On Friday, the Statistics Poland informed that in August the unemployment rate was 4.8%. This means that, finally, this level was by 0.1 percentage points lower than anticipated by the Ministry’s preliminary estimates at the beginning of the month.
This historically low rate is not just an effect of seasonality, resulting from the higher number of job offers in the summer, but above all of the government’s activities. During the pandemic, we supported companies effectively so that they did not have to apply the final solution, i.e., employee layoffs. We wanted to protect as many jobs as possible. As we can see, we passed this test – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.
As the Statistics Poland reported, the number of unemployed persons registered with labour offices was 806.9 thousand in August when compared to 810.2 thousand persons in July.
