Unemployment in October lower than estimated

Data from the Statistics Poland shows that the unemployment rate in October this year stood at 4.9%, a number even lower than the estimates of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy.

April with lowest unemployment since 1990

As we reported at the beginning of November, the registered unemployment rate in October this year, estimated by the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, was 5%, while the number of registered unemployed – 767,100 (provisional data) – was the lowest recorded in October since the beginning of the measurement, i.e. since 1990.

However, it turns out that the final figures are even better than we anticipated. According to the Statistics Poland, the unemployment rate in October this year stood at 4.9% and the number of unemployed persons registered with labour offices was 765,500, compared to 769,600 in the preceding month.

Eurostat on the labour market in Poland

The good situation on the labour market in Poland confirmed by Eurostat data. Poland still stands as a country with one of the lowest unemployment rates in the European Union.

According to Eurostat methodology, the unemployment rate in Poland in September this year stood at 2.9%. (same figure as in the previous year and the previous month). Lower unemployment rate at 2.8% was only recorded in the Czech Republic. While the highest – in Spain (11.2%). The average EU unemployment in September this year stood at 5.9% and in the euro zone it was 6.3%.
