01.02.2023
According to the data from the EU statistical office, the unemployment rate in Poland stood at 2.9% in December when compared to 3% in November. The lower rate was recorded only by the Czech Republic – 2.3%, and the equal one – by Germany.
Once again, the Eurostat data confirm the good and stable situation in our labour market. While in other EU countries the unemployment rate is increasing or stagnant, in Poland it is decreasing. We achieved the second best result in Europe – 2.9%. These figures prove that the government policy is working. We constantly monitor the situation and respond on an ongoing basis. Thanks to the proper activities, we have saved millions of jobs which were at risk during the pandemic. Another test was the war in Ukraine. Citizens of this country fleeing Putin’s regime have found both shelter and employment in our country – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.
According to Eurostat, the number of job seekers in Poland amounted to 503 thousand in December when compared to 508 thousand in the previous month.
In the whole European Union, the unemployment rate was 6.1%. The country with the highest unemployment rate is Spain. There, unemployment was 13.1%.
