The registered unemployment rate at the end of April 2022 was 5.2%. “According to the Statistics Poland data, the situation in the labour market is even better than it was predicted by our estimates. The decrease in unemployment is very satisfying, we also want to constantly improve the quality of work, hence the amendments to the Labour Code prepared by the Ministry” - says the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.
The Statistics Poland reported that the registered unemployment rate at the end of April 2022 was 5.2%. This means that finally this level was by 0.1 percentage points lower than it was predicted by the preliminary estimates of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy at the beginning of May.
The situation in the labour market is very good, as confirmed by the latest Statistics Poland data. Unemployment is by 1.1 percentage points lower than the year before. During the pandemic, we stressed that the objective of our actions is to protect jobs. Today, we can see that we managed to do so. The stable situation in the labour market has not been disturbed even by recent geopolitical events – said the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.
The registered unemployment rate at the end of April ranged from 2.9% in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship to 8.3% in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship. It achieved its lowest value in the Poznański district and in Poznań (1.4%), and the highest in the Szydłowiecki district (21.7%).
At the end of April 2022, 878 thousand unemployed people were registered with labour offices – 24,100 fewer people than the month before and 175,800 fewer people than the year before.
The decrease in unemployment is very satisfying, but we also want to improve the quality of work. This purpose will be served by, inter alia, the changes amendments to the draft amendment to the Labour Code, adopted by the government several days ago. Regulating the rules of remote work is an opportunity to increase the possibility of employing, inter alia, parents of small children and persons with disabilities – points out Minister Marlena Maląg.
