Unemployment lower than a year ago
06.03.2023
In February, the registered unemployment rate amounted to 5.5% and remained unchanged when compared to January – according to the Ministry of Family and Social Policy’s estimates. In comparison with the same period last year, there was a decrease by 0.4 pp.
We had equally low unemployment in February only once – in 2020, before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland. This proves how effective state intervention has been during global crises. We saved millions of jobs, we saved our companies from closure, while many other countries failed to do so. We are one of the leaders with the lowest unemployment in the whole European Union” - says Marlena Maląg, Minister of Family and Social Policy.
In February, 866.1 thousand unemployed persons were registered with labour offices, it is by 55.7 thousand fewer when compared to the end of February last year.
Employers reported 92.3 thousand vacancies and places of professional activation to labour offices. This is 0.3 thousand more than a month ago.
The registered unemployment rate at the end of February 2023 ranged from 3.2% in the Wielkopolskie Voivodship to 9.4% in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship.
