"We are building strong and modern Poland founded on the family," said Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg on Thursday. At a meeting organised at the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced the amount of the minimum wage to be in force from the next year.
Minimum wage in 2024
The Council of Ministers has adopted a regulation on the minimum remuneration for work in 2024. Effective on 1 January 2024, the minimum wage will be PLN 4,242 and the minimum hourly rate will reach PLN 27.70; beginning on 1 July 2024, the amount will be PLN 4,300 and PLN 28.10 respectively. The news was announced by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the head office of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy.
In July next year, the minimum wage will be PLN 700 higher than the one in force at present, up by 19.4%. In all, the minimum remuneration for work will grow by PLN 2,550, or 146%, in 2015-2024.
"In 2015 we started from the gross level of PLN 1,750. Today we are deciding about the minimum wage which in a few months will reach PLN 4,240 gross," pointed out Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
Meanwhile, the net wage will – thanks to our gigantic tax reduction from 18% to 12% and tax-free amount of up to PLN 30,000 – be in fact more than two time higher than under our predecessors. This is a solidarity revolution,"
emphasised the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said also that the government was planning to launch a seniority pension scheme which would be available to women after 38 years of work and men after 43 years of work. As Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki explained, the scheme would at the same time represent the fulfilment of the "Solidarność" heritage.
Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg spoke in the same spirit.
Strong and modern Poland
"The safety of Polish families, the safety of Poles, and safe future are not just empty words. They are steps which we have been taking for eight years to make Polish lives better. We are building strong and modern Poland founded on the family,"
said Minister Marlena Maląg.
The Minister reminded that the government had launched the Government Programme of Strategic Investments to co-finance investments that are close to people. She mentioned additional benefits for seniors, e.g. the 13th and 14th pension pay, which were introduced by the PiS government and which have already become additional annual benefits paid of the elderly. Minister Marlena Maląg reminded also that from January on, the child upbringing benefit would reach PLN 800 per month.
"We are committed to sustainable development of the country," added Minister Marlena Maląg.
