Poland's key development goals until 2035 – Development Policy Coordination Committee Meeting
06.12.2024
Multi-centred national development; mitigating demographic change; creating conditions for a competitive economy; and strengthening security and resilience – these are the strategic objectives of Poland's development in the medium-term national development strategy to 2035, which is being prepared at the MDFRP. The key elements of the new strategy were discussed at the Development Policy Coordination Committee meeting today.
The strategy will be submitted for public consultation and inter-ministerial agreement in the first half of 2025. Its strategic objectives have already been approved by the Economic Committee of the Council of Ministers at its meeting on 4 September this year.
We have three fundamental objectives that are the guiding principles of our national development strategy. These include mitigating and adapting to demographic change, creating the conditions for a competitive and equitable economy that respects the environment and climate, strengthening the security and resilience of the state, understood in terms of both military security and cybersecurity, resilience and efficiency of institutions,
Minister for Development Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz said during the committee meeting.
The Minister emphasised that Poland's medium-term development strategy for the next decade is the most important strategic document, an umbrella for other strategic documents.
Work on Poland's Medium-Term Development Strategy to 2035
Intensive work is currently underway on the content of the strategy. Representatives from all regions and ministries are consulted on its various areas, as well as in the expert group.
During the meeting at the MDFRP, the committee members discussed the objectives and priorities of the development strategy and the most important areas of the country that require special attention and state intervention. They also discussed ways to implement and monitor the strategy in the future.
Inter-Ministerial Team for the Elaboration of a Medium-Term National Development Strategy
This was the second meeting of the committee. At its first meeting, the Minister of Development Funds and Regional Policy set up an Inter-Ministerial Team for the development of a medium-term national development strategy. It is the main forum for discussing and agreeing positions during the preparation of the new strategy. Friday's meeting was an opportunity to discuss the first results of the team's work.
What happened between September and November this year:
- working meetings at the level of department directors with individual ministries and the CPM to agree on proposed provisions and indicators in the individual priorities of the MNDS;
- individual consultation meetings with all regions on areas of strategic state intervention (OSI);
- expert tables and meetings among representatives of various public institutions to develop action lines for the strategy.
The conclusions of the discussion will be submitted in December for discussion by the Economic Committee of the Council of Ministers.
