All lovers of history, archaeology and modern technology are invited to the extraordinary XIX Yotvingian Archaeological Festival, which will take place on 1-2 July!
The XIX Yotvingian Archaeological Festival will take place in Krzywólka at the "Żwirek" dam in Suwałki During the event, there will be plenty of historical motifs, traditional crafts and new technologies. It will be an educational weekend full of excitement and attractions, providing an unforgettable experience for people of all ages.
Participation in the Yotvingian Archaeological Festival is a unique opportunity to delve into the mysterious world of archaeology and discover how our past influences our present. The event is aimed to both archaeology enthusiasts and people who want to learn about the unique history of the Suwałki region. It is also an excellent proposal for families to actively spend time together, have fun and learn.
The festival, which has been organized periodically since 1999. It’s considered to be the largest archaeological event in this part of the country, where participants can experience history and learn about it through fun. This year, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the mysteries of the past and rediscover them by combining history with modern technology. A walk through a Yotvingian village, discovering medieval secrets with the help of robots and printing their own spearheads are just a few of the many attractions prepared for this event.
During the two-day festival, participants will also have the opportunity to learn about traditional handicrafts and personate the role of real archaeologists. They will learn about medieval techniques and crafts used by the bravest Vikings from the Suwałki region - the Yotvingians. Among other things, visitors will be able to see how Yotvingians made weapons from flint, learn the secrets of clay pot making, and test their strengths at archery. There will also be demonstrations of medieval methods of making medical herbal potions and even poisons.
Emotions for visitors will be provided by demonstrations of warrior fights, tournaments and various stagings, accompanied by concerts of music inspired by prehistoric themes. The highlight of the event will be a performance by the evening's star, the Percival band.
Participation in the event is also a great opportunity to reignite passion for history in the youngest archaeologists, for whom creative workshops, a field game, 3D printed history and power of technological attractions have been prepared.

The organizer of the XIX Yotvingian Archaeological Festivities is the District Museum in Suwałki together with its partner GovTech Centre.
