Poland in Iraq

The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland will be closed on November 1-2, 2023.

On 26-27 July 2023 the employees of the Consulate General of Poland in Erbil visited the camps for internally displaced persons (IDP’s) in Hassan Sham and Baharka.

Andrzej Adam Sadowski (1946-2016) visited Iraq 35 years ago to participate in the - recently revived - Babylon Festival and the Exhibition of Polish Art in Baghdad. He was a pioneer of photorealism genre in Poland. Now his son, Łukasz Mikołaj Sadowski, shares with us some of his father's photorealistic, Baghdad-themed paintings.

Between 21 and 26 August a representative of the Polish Medical Mission (PMM) visited three IDP & refugee camps in Erbil Governorate, where the organisation runs its projects. Journalists from the Polish media (TVP, Radio 357 and Newsweek Polska) accompanied her.

Małgorzata Olasińska-Chart, head of the PMM's Humanitarian Aid Program has visited the Kurdistan Region. She has conducted a monitoring mission, supervising the ongoing project ""Medical & dental assistance for refugees, IDPs and host community in Erbil Governorate and al-Hamdaniya District" and planning future actions.
