Deputy Minister of Justice Dariusz Mazur met today (June 26, 2024) with State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Justice of Germany Angelika Schlunck. They discussed various aspects of mutual cooperation at the national and EU levels, and preparations for the Polish-German intergovernmental consultations scheduled for July 2 in Warsaw.
Topics included bilateral cooperation on digitalization, judge training, internships – exchange of officials, establishing contacts and cooperation between prison services and the judiciary in criminal and civil matters.
The Polish-German Action Plan in the field of justice has been developed in recent weeks by the Ministries of Justice of both countries. It will be adopted during the intergovernmental consultations on July 2, 2024.
The plan will form the basis for drafting a memorandum of cooperation between the Ministries of Justice of Poland and Germany. It will enable direct contacts between representatives of our ministries, facilitate the exchange of best practices, and foster cooperation on legal matters.
Deputy Minister Dariusz Mazur also referred to daily contacts between Polish and German judicial authorities, especially at the state level, which are an example of well-functioning cooperation between the justice institutions of both countries.
The Deputy Minister noted that recent months have given a positive impulse to the development of Polish-German relations. "We greatly appreciate this and would like to continue and expand the broad formula of cooperation, especially in the context of the upcoming Polish presidency of the Council of the European Union," emphasized Dariusz Mazur.
