Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar and the Director of the European Law Department at the Ministry of Justice, Małgorzata Pawelec, presented the priorities of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the area of justice. The Polish Presidency will last from January 1 to June 30, 2025.

"We have joined the European Public Prosecutor’s Office. This decision is of immense importance. I am happy that, together with the Minister of Justice of Sweden, we can announce it. It is a symbol of deepening our European integration and loyalty to European institutions, as well as an important step on the path to rebuilding the rule of law in Poland," said Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar today (December 13) in Brussels.

At the meeting of the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council, justice ministers adopted positions on directives concerning the prevention of child sexual abuse and liability for migrant smuggling. This means that negotiations with the European Parliament aimed at adopting these legal acts will begin during Poland's presidency.

Deputy Minister Dariusz Mazur dedicated his address at the 141st plenary session of the Venice Commission to the role of restoring the proper functioning of the Constitutional Tribunal in the process of rebuilding the rule of law in Poland.

Deputy Minister Maria Ejchart signed today (December 3, 2024) in The Hague an agreement between Poland and the International Criminal Court (ICC) on the enforcement of sentences. The conclusion of the agreement highlights Poland's significance as a state actively supporting international justice. This is particularly important during Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine, as the ICC prosecutes the perpetrators of Russian war crimes.

Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar participated in a dialogue on the rule of law during the General Affairs Council (GAC) in Brussels. The systematic assessment this time focused on the situation in the Netherlands, Malta, Austria, and Poland. “Poland is now part of a normal dialogue on the rule of law, which includes all EU member states,” said Adam Bodnar.

Deputy Minister of Justice Maria Ejchart, together with a British delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Justice, Lord Ponsonby of Shulbrede, visited the Warsaw-Białołęka Detention Center on November 15, 2024. The visit was part of the British delegation's trip to Poland, aimed at strengthening cooperation in criminal matters.
