Hearings for Candidates for the Position of European Delegated Prosecutor Conclude

Over three days (November 6–8), the team conducted hearings for 29 candidates for the position of European Delegated Prosecutor. Out of these, 12 individuals will be selected, and a reserve list comprising up to 12 additional candidates will be created. These reserve candidates will be considered if the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) College rejects any of the initially proposed nominees.

Key Responsibilities of a European Delegated Prosecutor Include:

  • Conducting investigations and prosecuting crimes at the national level on behalf of the EPPO, including offenses such as financial fraud, corruption, tax evasion, money laundering, and any activities harming the EU's financial interests.
  • Cooperating with EU institutions and national law enforcement agencies to ensure efficient investigations and coordination of actions across the Union.
  • Representing the EPPO in national courts in cases related to crimes against the EU budget during legal proceedings.
  • Supervising national investigations conducted in collaboration with the EPPO to ensure that national law enforcement activities comply with EPPO's guidelines and objectives.
