Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar and Deputy Minister Krzysztof Śmiszek will represent Poland at the informal meeting of the EU Council on Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) on January 26, 2024.

The JHA discussions will involve ministers from EU member states, addressing migration issues and the use of artificial intelligence by criminal organizations. Participants will also discuss how to respond to organized crime related to drugs. Justice ministers will cover topics such as the decriminalization of sex work and hold a debate on pre-trial detentions.

Today (January 25, 2024), before the session started, Minister Bodnar met with Vice-President of the European Commission Vera Jurová and EU Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders. He also had bilateral meetings with France's Minister of Legal Protection, Franc Weerwind, and Austria's Minister of Justice, Alma Zadić.

"Since the beginning of our EU membership, we have made a valuable contribution to the development of the EU in the field of justice, and we want to continue doing so," emphasized Minister Adam Bodnar.

Tomorrow, Minister Bodnar is scheduled to hold discussions with the Chair of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) in the European Parliament, Juan Fernando López Aguilar, as well as Germany's Minister of Justice, Marco Buschmann, and the Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, Adrian Vázquez Lázaro.
