Ambassador Pavel Latushka informed about the extremely rapidly growing scale of violations of fundamental human rights by the regime of Alexander Lukashenko. He pointed to the increasing phenomenon of serious human rights violations, torture, and the mass use of sanctions against the families of oppositionists. He also shared the concerns – expressed by a significant part of Belarusian society – about the insufficient reaction of the European Union to the political and social consequences of the authoritarian rule of Lukashenko.
During the conversation, topics were also raised regarding the situation of political prisoners in Belarus, cooperation with representatives of independent Belarusian institutions, and the legal responsibility of the regime of President Alexander Lukashenko.
