Ministry of Justice resumed cooperation with the Norwegian Courts Administration

16.06.2024

On May 29, 2024, the Ministry of Justice signed a partnership agreement with the Norwegian Courts Administration. The goal is to establish working groups to assess actions needed to improve the efficiency of civil court proceedings in Poland.

The working groups will focus on the digitalization of courts, increased use of mediation, and support for court experts' efficiency. Experts will analyze needs and develop recommendations for the next financial perspective of Norwegian and EEA funds for 2021–2028.

The Norwegian Courts Administration withdrew from previous cooperation in early 2020 due to concerns about the independence of the Polish judiciary. Following the presentation of the current Ministry of Justice's action plan to restore the rule of law, Norway decided to resume cooperation at the beginning of 2024.
