26.02.2024
The Committee for the Selection of the National Public Prosecutor Candidate, appointed by the Minister of Justice and headed by Deputy Minister Maria Ejchart, has selected a candidate for the National Public Prosecutor – Prosecutor Dariusz Korneluk.
"It was not an easy decision. The prosecutor was the highest rated of the candidates. We appreciated his extensive experience in leading teams at various levels of the prosecution service. He presented a broad and coherent vision of the prosecution service operating at all possible levels. He was the only one to say how important the role of the prosecution service is in the event of an armed conflict," said Deputy Minister Maria Ejchart.
The competition was conducted in an open manner so that the public could get acquainted with the candidates. "We care about transparency. The proceedings were conducted in such a way that everyone could get to know the candidates, could learn how we see the role of the national prosecutor and the development of the prosecution service, as well as how the candidates see themselves in this position. Many people watched it. This is a groundbreaking event – the first competition of its kind," said Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar.
As a result of the selection, Minister Adam Bodnar will present an appropriate motion to Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Candidates for other positions, including the director of the National School of Judiciary and Public Prosecution and the European prosecutor, will be selected in the same way. "I would like to declare that all subsequent competitions for various positions will be conducted in a similar manner, guided by the principle of transparency and maximum accessibility of competition procedures for those interested," assured Minister Adam Bodnar.
