Agnieszka Glapiak is a journalist, political scientist and public administration officer. She proves that it is possible to reconcile different types of public service, especially in terms of social communication and reliable information.
She has many years of experience in creating a good image of Polish state and local government institutions. She is a specialist in social communication and political marketing, as well as a specialist in the field of local self-government.
She is a doctoral student at the University of Silesia. She graduated from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, with an EMBA, as well as postgraduate studies in cyber security. She created a think tank: the Academic Centre for Strategic Communication, which operates within the Academy of Military Art in Warsaw. Its mission is, among other things, to raise public awareness of the threats posed by the information environment and to initiate public debate on communication and countering disinformation. Academically, she is involved in the culture of the Polish language in official writings. She has conducted classes on the subject for more than 1,000 state and local administration officials.
She has many years of experience as a journalist.
In 1991, she started working at the Polish Television as an intern for the magazine "Always after 21". Then, in the Publicisty and Reportage Department of Channel I of the Polish Public Television, she was the co-author of the magazines: "Nasze Państwo", "Polska w Parlamencie" and the author of reportages, among others, the series on Polish communes entitled "Albumy Lokalne", reportages on the flood in 1997 and a documentary on the Vistula, a wild river, entitled "Wiślany Flis".
She worked for TVP3, where she was responsible for cooperation with the largest local government organisations in Poland. She also served as secretary of the agricultural and entertainment editorial department at TVP1.
For four years she headed the Editorial Office of Educational, Youth and Children's Programmes at TVP1. She also worked in the Programme Secretariat of TVP1, where she prepared reports and statements for the National Broadcasting Council.
She also has experience of working in the printed press. She was a journalist of the national section of Życie Warszawy, published in Rzeczpospolita, and wrote articles in the local press. She was a member of the Supervisory Board of the Polish Press Agency.
Agnieszka Glapiak has also worked in government administration. She was director of the Operational Centre of the Minister of National Defence, where she was responsible for creating the image of the Ministry of National Defence and the Polish Armed Forces, as well as for communication of the Ministry and the Polish Army with the public. Among other things, she co-organised the Great Independence Defilade in 2018 and co-created a number of social campaigns of the Ministry of Defence, such as 'Become a soldier of the 'Republic'. She was director of the Government Information Centre. She created the information policy of the governments of three prime ministers. Among other things, she created the concept of media monitoring. She also headed the Department of Social Communication at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, where she initiated a number of projects to improve the image of the uniformed services. Among other things, she was responsible for communication during World Youth Days in Poland. She was a co-author of social campaigns of the Ministry of Interior and Administration.
Her passion is local Poland. She is the co-author of a book entitled "Albumy Lokalne" (Local Albums), presenting the attractions of Polish communes, towns and cities, and the author of two children's books describing the peculiarities of Polish lands.
She was awarded the Medal of the Centenary of Regaining Independence by the President of the Republic of Poland. She was awarded the medal "Samorząd w służbie społeczeństwu" by the Association of Polish Cities. Honoured twice in the ranking of "100 most influential women of Warsaw of "Życie Warszawy".
