KRRiT announcement of April 17, 2024 regarding the meeting with Minister Sienkiewicz

The National Broadcasting Council informs that the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, did not take up the invitation, and therefore the opportunity to personally discuss with the Members of the National Broadcasting Council the ways of resolving the crisis in the public media after his decisions in December 2023 regarding changes in the management boards and liquidation of public media.
In connection with the above, the National Broadcasting Council declares that it still expects Minister Sienkiewicz to comply with the judgments of the Constitutional Tribunal of 2016 (K13/16) and 2024 (K29/23).
At the same time, the Council informs that a meeting was held today with two liquidators of the regional companies of Polish Radio: Radio Dla Ciebie and Radio Poznań.
Liquidator of Radio dla Ciebie Emilia Benedykcińska informed that in March this year RDC received 1 million 176 thousand zlotys from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. She also informed that RDC did not file a motion to reject the deposit of subscription money transferred by the National Broadcasting Council.
The liquidator of Radio Poznań, Piotr Michalak, informed that Radio Poznań received PLN 1.368 million from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in March. He also informed that he had turned to the court to collect the funds transferred by the National Broadcasting Council to the court deposit.
Both liquidators shared the view of the KRRiT Members that the plan to liquidate public media in Poland will not be ultimately implemented.
