The Council of the European Union has adopted another package of sanctions against Russia, which also extended to Russian news programmes

The sixth package of sanctions against Russia was adopted by the Council of the European Union on 3 June 2022 and includes targeted restrictions on the broadcasting activities of further Russian television programmes (Rossiya RTR/RTR Planeta, Rossiya 24/Russia 24, TV Center International).
After examining the relevant cases, the Council concluded that the measures referred to in Article 2f of Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 should apply from 25 June 2022 for all covered entities. The relevant implementing act was published on Friday in the Official Journal (2022/C 219 I/03).
According to the sanctions package announced, Rossiya RTR/RTR Planeta, Rossiya 24/Russia 24, TV Center International, may not be distributed throughout the European Union (by cable, IPTV, satellite, via the Internet or via mobile applications).
