27.10.2022
The survey results show that the number of households without DVBT2/HEVC terrestrial TV reception has dropped from 2.27 million to 0.99 million.
The switch in the digital terrestrial television broadcasting standard, was related to the release of frequencies in the 700 MHz range for cell phone networks. The new digital terrestrial TV standard is primarily an improvement in picture and sound quality, but also access to more free TV programs.
The National Media Institute was tasked with providing a comprehensive understanding of readiness and awareness of the change in the broadcasting standard. The institute conducted a dedicated qualitative and quantitative survey, and also launched ongoing monitoring of household adaptation to DVB-T2/HEVC as part of the Foundational Survey. The NMI published data, on awareness and readiness for the new broadcasting standard, in regular monthly reports, and presented the results at conferences and meetings with the regulator and stakeholders.
