The Embassy of the Republic of Poland is seeking a person for the position of Economic Officer

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kuala Lumpur

POSITION: Economic Officer

OPENING DATE: January 17th, 2020

CLOSING DATE: February 3th, 2020

STARTING DATE: March 1st, 2020, negotiable

WORKING HOURS: Full-Time, 09:00-17:00/Monday to Friday. (except for the Polish and Malaysian public holidays / according to Malaysian law on Saturday the Employee will be on stand-by without the right to overtime payment if working).

SALARY: negotiable, dependent on skills and experience

TASKS ON THE POSITION:

Assists in matters related to economic affairs:

  1. preparing analysis concerning Malaysia’s economic policy and Brunei Darussalam, in particular in terms of cooperation with Poland;
  2. taking part in organizing sectoral exhibition and events promoting Polish business in Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam;
  3. monitoring institutional and legal solutions concerning economic issues, trade, investments, innovations and labor market;
  4. maintaining working contacts with governmental institutions, state, regional and local authorities, political parties, social, economic, cultural and education organizations, think-tanks, media and representatives in Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam;
  5. acting in favor of Polish interests, promoting Polish companies;
  6. participating and organizing bilateral visits and consultations;
  7. organizing cultural and public diplomacy events;
  8. providing translations of documents and related;
  9. preparing content for the Embassy’s website;
  10. performing other activities and tasks in accordance with the superiors instructions.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor degree or higher (preferable related to economics/finance/law/politics /administration).
  • Good writing and analytical skills. Broad knowledge on socio-economic situation in Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and Poland; The applicant should have a strong understanding of Malaysian institutions, the Malaysian economy and governmental policies.
  • Relevant work experience in a political or economic research and analysis position in either the public or private sector.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • High level of discretion and judgment.

 

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:

Fluent English and Malay in reading, writing and speaking. Chinese and/or Polish will be additional advantage.
