Meeting of the Visegrad Group Ambassadors in Malaysia inaugurating the Polish Presidency

On December 9, 2020, on the occasion of Poland’s Presidency of the Visegrad Group (Visegrad 4 - V4), Ambassador Krzysztof Dębnicki organised a special dinner attended by Ambassador of the Czech Republic - H.E. Milan Hupcej, Ambassador of Hungary - H.E. Petra Ponevacs-Pana and the Honorary Consul of Slovakia in Kuala Lumpur - Tan Sri Ong Tee Keat.
The occasion to organise the meeting was currently held Presidency of V4 by Poland and the upcoming 30th Anniversary of the Group. Unfortunately, due to numerous restrictions introduced by the Malaysian authorities in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, one being the ban on organising major events and movement restrictions, the Embassy of Poland had to postpone the V4 ceremonial concert planned for November this year. Therefore, an exhibition on the Visegrad Group and the winning posters of the 30th Anniversary of the V4 Competition were presented during the meeting. The Embassy of Poland plans to organise a public exhibition on the V4 Group after the existing restrictions are relaxed.
The meeting was a good opportunity to exchange opinions; the possibility of organising future joint cultural and promotional events, as well as possible joint activities in Malaysia in other areas was discussed.
An additional opportunity for joint activities is the fact that in 2021 both, Poland and the Czech Republic will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations with Malaysia.
The Poland’s Presidency of the Visegrad Group will last until the end of June 2021.
