'A Mass for Peace' by Marc Agius with participation of Polish musicians
16.10.2022
On 16th of October, a premiere of an orchestral concert entitled 'A Mass for Peace' by Maltese composer Mark Agius, with participation of Polish artists - solo violinist Daria Skrzypek and the Rotondo Chamber Choir from Poznań - was held at the St Paul’s Metropolitan Cathedral in Mdina.
This major work by Mark Agius was inspired by his visit to the German Nazi concentration camps of Auschwitz and Birkenau in November 2016. It is dedicated to the innocent victims of war. It is an appeal for peace in a world which, even today, is being torn apart by civil wars and acts of terrorism.
During the concert, a flag parade was also held. Representatives of various foreign communities living in Malta carried their national flags. Children from every represented country read short messages of peace in their native languages.
The concert was organised by the Medina Foundation for Music with a financial support of the Embassy of Poland in Valletta.
