The Encounter with History of ORP 'Kujawiak' at Archaeology Centre of the University of Malta

On June 18th, at the Faculty of Archaeology of the University of Malta, a conference was held, which was devoted to the participation of Polish soldiers in the fighting in Malta during World War II, the history of ORP 'Kujawiak' and its mission within the 'Harpoon' Operation and the history of the search for the shipwreck.

The conference was attended by historians from Poland and Malta, representatives of the 'Wreck Expeditions' Association, volunteers of the NGO Din l-Art Ħelwa (National Trust of Malta), dealing with the protection of the historical, artistic and natural heritage of Malta, employees of Maltese museums, representatives of the Maltese community diving, students of the Faculty of Archaeology of the University of Malta, as well as representatives of the Polish community in Malta.

During the conference, there was a presentation of the film prepared by the 'Wreck Expeditions' Association, showing the various stages of the exploration of the ORP 'Kujawiak' wreck. Conference participants also had the opportunity to watch the 360 ​​֯ film made by Heritage Malta with a current image of the Polish wreckage. In addition, thanks to the efforts of the facility, the Malta Maritime Museum made available for the duration of the conference the restored ship's bell recovered from the wreck in 2017 ("the heart of the ship").
